GENDER BASED VIOLENCE FORMED A PART OF OUR presentations on almost all the schools and institutions we visited.we talked about this topic to because it also formed one of the major problems in this region besides the cardiovascular health.
So onto it we will be talking about
Gender-based violence
Gender-based violence is an umbrella term for any harmful act that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to a woman, man, girl or boy on the basis of their gender.
GBV is a result of gender inequality and abuse of power. GBV includes but is not limited to sexual violence, domestic violence, trafficking, forced or early marriage, forced prostitution, sexual exploitation and abuse and denial of resources, opportunities and services
Rape
Rape is physically forced or otherwise coerced penetration – even if slight – of the vagina, anus or mouth with a penis or other body part. It also includes penetration of the vagina or anus with an object. Rape includes marital rape and anal rape/sodomy. The attempt to do so is known as attempted rape. Rape of a person by two or more perpetrators is known as gang rape WHO (2002) World Report on Violence and Health.
Sexual exploitation
Sexual exploitation means any actual or attempted abuse of a position of vulnerability, differential power, or trust, for sexual purposes, including, but not limited to, profiting monetarily, socially or politically from the sexual exploitation of another. Some types of forced prostitution can fall under this category.
