Sensitizing the students on the causes of Gender based violence and ways of preventing or avoiding such cases.
Sensitizing the students on the actions to take or what to do in case one falls a victim of the various forms of Gender based violence.
Sensitizing the students on pre-exposure prophylaxis, post-exposure prophylaxis and how they are used to avoid risk of infection and unwanted pregnancies in cases of Gender based violence.
Thika Girls’ Karibaribi Secondary School is a Girls boarding School located in the outskirts of Thika town at a place known as Karibaribi. We were interested to reach out to this school because being located in a rural area, they have limited access to such information. There was also need to do so because girls are the most affected by gender based violence and schools are one of the places where the prevalence of these cases are becoming high of late.
Gender based violence has become a common occurrence in our society today. The prevalence rates continue increasing day by day. One of the major causes of this is ignorance due to lack of information. It is therefore of great importance to go out there sensitize the community and equip them with the appropriate information on these gender based violence issues, their causes and ways of preventing and avoiding them.
