Week 2 of the may measurement month came with its own set of stories and challenges. Our young and determined team set to visit yet another 2 screening locations in Githurai area including the PAG CHURCH AND THE CHURCH OF GOD. As you may have already noticed in our previous post is that in this years may measurement month we will heavily use churches as strategic points to conduct the blood pressure screenings in Nairobi.
The day started off on a very low cold weather with constant drizzles and cold winds. Our team had to keep warm and continuously brave the weather conditions to conduct the blood pressure screenings. We got a lot of community members interested in the screening activities for the day and we even got backing from some community members who acted out as mobilizers to enable community members come to our screening locations.
During the screening activities we interacted with one Mr Wafula who was a very hardworking citizen of the area. He dealt with gas retailing and even as we had light conversations with him he told us for him it was very important that he constantly knows the pressure of the cooking gas just as much as knowing his blood pressure was leading us to a very interesting quote which resonated throughout the day, ‘’ in as much as it is important to know the gas pressure, know your blood pressure too as your life depends on it literally.
“dont just know the gas pressure, know your blood pressure too”
