NCDS YOUTH CHAMPIONS WEEK 1 9-13TH SEP 2019

NCDS YC Ruben Bokea

The first week of the NCDS youth champions was a huge success with a lot of planning beginning and a lot of activation taking place in various universities. We established a strong connection with the various participating schools and to this end we were able to comfortable start of a series of planned events and activities in this project.

The success story of this week was one Bokea.

This week we celebrate the boldness and courage of one Bokea Ruben, a passionate, committed and dedicated youth! He organized and conducted a diabetes talk in the district hospital in Nakuru! Educating the community on what they need to know about diabetes while leveraging on existing resources!

He was able to train 38 individuals in The Nakuru West health center on diabetes. This was the second event in the NCDS youth champions movement and we intend to continue working closely with the over 30 organizations now to ensure they reach out to their communities with messages on the NCDS!

You can do it too, you could talk about diet, physical activity, drug abuse, and how they link to NCDS, and you could talk about specific NCDS like cancer, diabetes, obesity, mental health, heart diseases and even lung diseases. Whatever it is you decide to do we are waiting to hear impact stories from you!
