ICPD stands for the International Conference on Population and Development, a 1994 meeting in Cairo where 179 governments adopted a revolutionary Programme of Action and called for women’s reproductive health and rights to take Centre stage in national and global development efforts
ICPD 25 was truly an amazing summit with a lot of amazing speakers and amazing lessons and stories of impact. The top 3 key takeaways from Stowelink were that their still a lot to be done especially by young people to ensure that we achieve the objectives of the ICPD and the sustainable development goals. We also learned that innovation and commitment is very key in achieving and sustainable impact. From stories of amazing projects, we learnt that it takes innovation and new age thinking to solve new age problems and finally we learnt about the importance of inclusion. It’s critical that we are inclusive of everyone, and that we don’t discriminate people . this brings in new energies, innovation new ideas and creativity to projects and initiatives and also encourages inclusive participation and engagement.
