On the 12th and 13th November 2020, Stowelink was represented at the Sarova Panafric Hotel for a training and advocacy workshop by the External Relations Officer , Naila Chebet. The two-day workshop was focused on discussing legal and policy strategies geared towards prevention of NCDs through promotion of healthy diets. The workshop, which was organised by KELIN (Kenya Legal and Ethical Issues Network), was one of the strategies of implementing a programme called RECAP in Kenya. KELIN with support from IDLO, worked closely with the Ministry of Health and the NCD Alliance Kenya to implement the training. Members of various CSOs and CBOs in Kenya were invited to attend the training and among them was Stowelink.

About 30 representatives from the different CSOs and CBOs were present in the training. Organizations such as AMREF, Youth on the Move Kenya, Stroke Association of Kenya, Kenya Cardiac Society and Tunawiri among many others participated in the two-day training. The aim of the training was to increase knowledge on legal and policy strategies, strengthen capacity building and formulating an advocacy strategy for prevention of NCDs through promotion of healthy diets.
Stowelink was honored to be invited to the training. It was an informative, educative and satisfactory process aimed at preventing NCDs by promoting healthy diets. The proposed legal strategies were visionary and in line with current risk factors of NCDs. It was very encouraging to see the Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Health including CBOs and CSOs in discussions of legal strategies to reduce NCDs in Kenya. Lets continue to work together in the fight against NCDS. #EndNCDs
