Driving Change: Stowelink CPO Wins Young Innovator in Healthcare at the 5th Quality Healthcare Kenyan Awards

We are excited to share that our Chief Program Officer (CPO) has been awarded the Young Innovators Award at the prestigious 5th Quality Healthcare Forum and Awards, hosted at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel in Nairobi. This esteemed recognition celebrates individuals who are pioneering innovative projects and policy initiatives to enhance healthcare outcomes.

Among the initiatives contributing to this accolade is the IPAB project, a groundbreaking endeavor aimed at advocating for increased priority, attention, and budget allocation for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Kenya. Through the Stowelink Foundation’s dedicated efforts, we successfully established the Vihiga County NCD advocacy group, driving greater focus and financial support for NCDs in the region.

Additionally, our involvement in the Transfat Elimination project, led by the International Institute of Legislative Affairs, underscores our commitment to advocating for policies safeguarding cardiovascular health in Kenya. At the heart of our digital health advocacy efforts, this project strives to eliminate harmful trans fats from our food systems.

During the awards ceremony, our CPO had the privilege of engaging with Mary Muthoni, the Principal Secretary of Public Health and Professional Standards. In our conversation, we emphasized the urgency of enacting trans fat policies to address the escalating burden of NCDs in Kenya. By championing this cause, we not only improve cardiovascular health outcomes but also position Kenya as a leader committed to implementing global best practices endorsed by the World Health Organization.

Receiving the Young Innovators Award ignites a renewed sense of purpose in our NCDs advocacy journey. We remain steadfast in our commitment to driving policies and initiatives that positively impact the health and well-being of Kenyans. Together, we can usher in a new era of healthcare excellence.
