As 2024 comes to a close, we at Stowelink Foundation are thrilled to reflect on a transformative year of advocacy, research, and community impact. From groundbreaking initiatives to prestigious recognitions, this year has truly demonstrated the power of collaboration and commitment in addressing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and advancing public health. Here are some key highlights from our journey in 2024:
January
We began the year by participating in the Cervical Cancer Advocacy Training organized by the Ministry of Health. This platform set the tone for our advocacy work, reinforcing the importance of early detection and prevention in saving lives.
February
Stowelink joined the Civil Society Organizations Advocacy Forum on Front of Package Labelling Standards in Kenya. This critical step aimed to improve consumer awareness and promote healthier choices through clear and effective labeling.
March
We celebrated a major milestone with the publication of new research uncovering the link between NCDs and climate change. This study highlighted how climate-related challenges exacerbate health risks, advocating for holistic solutions.

April
Our Chief Programs Officer, Oduor Kevin, was honored with the Young Innovator in Healthcare Award at the 5th Quality Healthcare Kenyan Awards. His innovative approach to health promotion and leadership continues to inspire change.
May
Stowelink was featured on the Africa NCD Champions Podcast as leading digital health advocates in Kenya. This recognition underscored our commitment to leveraging technology to promote health awareness and education.
June
We successfully implemented and coordinated the National May Measurement Month, promoting awareness about hypertension and encouraging preventive health practices across Kenya.

July
In a significant move, Stowelink joined Movendi International, strengthening our commitment to global alcohol prevention and development initiatives.
August
Stowelink participated in a Groundbreaking Cancer Training in South Africa, further equipping our team with the tools and knowledge to tackle the cancer burden in Africa.
September
We proudly presented two research projects at the 6th Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Conference, showcasing our evidence-based approach to health advocacy.
October
Our team underwent Tobacco Advocacy Training with ATIM in Ethiopia, learning new strategies to combat the harmful effects of tobacco use.

November
Stowelink joined the inaugural cohort of the Leadership in Advocacy and Communication Program by the World Heart Federation, a pivotal step in advancing our advocacy capabilities.
December
We closed the year on a high note with the announcement of our COO, Oduor Kevin, as one of the Top 100 Kenyans of 2024, recognized for his outstanding contributions to public health and advocacy.
