Stowelink Participates in Diabetes and Obesity Management Training for Health Professionals

As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare systems and improving non-communicable disease (NCD) outcomes, Stowelink recently took part in a key training session focused on diabetes and obesity management. The training, organized by AfyaBuzz in collaboration with Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH), brought together public health professionals, nurses, and healthcare advocates from across Kenya to build capacity in the prevention, treatment, and management of these growing health challenges.

Held at KUTRRH, the session provided valuable insights into the complex relationship between diabetes and obesity, which are among the most pressing NCDs affecting populations across the country. The training was led by esteemed experts Dr. Natasha Kapoor and Dr. Caroline Njuguna, who explored both the clinical and practical aspects of managing these conditions—from early diagnosis and lifestyle interventions to pharmacological management and complication prevention.

Stowelink staff were honored to participate in this impactful event, gaining knowledge and tools that will inform our community health education programs and advocacy initiatives. As an organization at the forefront of youth-led health advocacy, we recognize the importance of equipping healthcare workers with the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to Kenya’s rising NCD burden.

This training aligns with our broader mission to empower communities with health education, support the healthcare workforce, and push for systemic change in the way NCDs are understood and addressed in both policy and practice.

We commend AfyaBuzz and KUTRRH for creating a platform that bridges medical expertise with real-world application and look forward to continued collaboration in building a healthier, NCD-resilient Kenya.
