At Stowelink Foundation, we remain committed to advocating for healthier food environments—especially for young people and vulnerable communities. As part of this commitment, we recently participated in an intensive training session on Front-of-Pack Warning Labels (FOPWL) organized by the International Institute for Legislative Affairs (IILA) in Kenya.
This important training brought together civil society organizations, public health advocates, and nutrition experts working to advance clear, effective food labeling as a strategy to reduce noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
As an organization actively engaged in policy advocacy and public health education, Stowelink Foundation was proud to be part of this coalition of changemakers receiving capacity-building and technical support to champion the adoption of FOP warning labels across the country.

Why Front-of-Pack Warning Labels Matter
Front-of-Pack Warning Labels are a simple but powerful tool that empowers consumers with clear, at-a-glance information about the nutritional risks of packaged foods—especially those high in sugar, salt, saturated fats, and trans fats. Evidence from countries like Chile and Mexico shows that these labels can drive healthier choices and push the food industry toward reformulation.
In Kenya, where ultra-processed and unhealthy foods are becoming more widespread and aggressively marketed to children and youth, FOPWL represents a critical policy solution to reduce diet-related diseases and save lives.

Our Role in the Movement
Stowelink is now working to:
- Raise public awareness about the benefits of FOPWL through our youth-friendly campaigns and digital advocacy
- Support policy dialogues with government stakeholders and allied civil society partners
- Engage young people as informed advocates in demanding clearer food labeling and healthier options
As we continue this journey, we reaffirm our belief that everyone deserves access to accurate, easy-to-understand nutritional information—and that health begins with informed choices.
Together with IILA and other partner organizations, Stowelink is proud to be on the front lines of this critical health and nutrition advocacy.
