Stowelink Foundation Participates in Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Workshop to Advance Diabetes Advocacy in Kenya

On 5th July 2025, Stowelink Foundation, represented by Ogweno Stephen, participated in the Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Workshop, a pivotal forum dedicated to improving diabetes care and strengthening health advocacy in Kenya.

The workshop convened leading experts, health advocates, policymakers, and community representatives to explore innovative strategies for enhancing the quality of life for people living with diabetes and obesity—two of the most pressing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Kenya and across Africa.

Key Areas of Discussion

The dialogue centered on critical aspects of diabetes care, including:

  • The lived realities of people managing obesity and diabetes in Kenya.
  • The transformative role of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) in advancing personalized and effective diabetes management.
  • Persistent challenges in insurance coverage and equitable access to diabetes care and technology.
  • Pathways for strengthening advocacy through collaboration between communities, policymakers, and the private sector.

Stowelink Foundation’s Contribution

Representing Stowelink Foundation, Ogweno Stephen shared insights from the organization’s long-standing work in NCD prevention, policy advocacy, and community health education. His intervention emphasized the importance of integrating digital health innovations such as CGM into Kenya’s public health systems to enhance care outcomes and reduce long-term healthcare costs.

“Diabetes advocacy must go beyond awareness—it must push for innovation, accessibility, and equity in care. Tools like CGM can change lives if made available and affordable,” emphasized Stephen during the session.

A Step Toward Equitable Diabetes Care

The CGM Workshop aligns closely with Stowelink Foundation’s mission to promote health equity, empower communities through education, and influence policy for sustainable NCD management. By supporting discussions that bridge innovation, access, and advocacy, the Foundation continues to contribute to Kenya’s broader goal of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

As part of its ongoing work, Stowelink Foundation will continue collaborating with partners in government, civil society, and the private sector to ensure that youth-led health advocacy drives tangible progress in diabetes and NCD care across Africa.
