Stowelink Foundation Showcases Lifesten Health Innovation at National KELIN Dialogue on Digitalisation, Healthy Food Policy and NCD Prevention

Advancing Digital Solutions for Healthier Food Environments in Kenya

Stowelink Foundation was honored to participate in a two-day national dialogue convened by KELIN (Kenya Legal and Ethical Issues Network on HIV and AIDS) focusing on the growing intersection between digitalisation, healthy food policy, and the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Kenya.

Representing Stowelink Foundation, our Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Ogweno Stephen, was invited as a speaker and digital health innovator during the multi-stakeholder engagement held on 28th and 29th May 2026. The meeting brought together youth leaders, civil society organizations, researchers, community representatives, public health advocates, development partners, and digital innovators to explore how digital technologies are shaping nutrition behaviors, food environments, and health outcomes across the country.

Presenting Lifesten Health as a Digital Tool for Nutrition and NCD Prevention

During the engagement, Ogweno Stephen presented Lifesten Health, Stowelink Foundation’s flagship digital health innovation designed to support healthy lifestyle adoption, disease prevention, and long-term behavior change through technology.

The presentation explored how digital health platforms can become powerful tools for improving nutrition literacy, promoting healthier dietary choices, supporting physical activity, and creating positive health behaviors among young people and communities. Participants were taken through the opportunities presented by mobile technology, gamification, digital learning, and personalized health journeys in addressing Kenya’s growing burden of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and other diet-related NCDs.

The discussion emphasized that as digital platforms increasingly influence how people access information, interact with food marketing, and make daily lifestyle decisions, there is a growing need to ensure that evidence-based nutrition information is equally visible and accessible within those digital spaces.

Addressing Kenya’s Changing Food Environment

The KELIN dialogue highlighted concerns about the growing influence of online marketing of unhealthy foods, particularly among children and young people. Participants discussed how social media, digital advertising, and emerging technologies are increasingly shaping food preferences and dietary choices.

For Stowelink Foundation, this conversation aligns closely with our long-standing commitment to promoting healthier communities through digital innovation, health literacy, and public health advocacy.

Through initiatives such as NCDs 365 and Lifesten Health, Stowelink has spent years leveraging technology to improve access to health information and empower communities to make informed decisions about their health. These platforms have demonstrated the potential of digital solutions to reach populations that traditional health communication channels often struggle to engage.

Strengthening Community Voices and Digital Advocacy

A key objective of the meeting was strengthening community voices in healthy food policy discussions. Participants explored practical ways to enhance digital advocacy efforts, identify community-driven priorities, and develop policy solutions that support healthier food environments.

The engagement also created opportunities for collaboration among organizations working across nutrition, public health, digital rights, youth engagement, and NCD prevention. Such partnerships are critical as Kenya seeks innovative approaches to address the growing burden of diet-related diseases.

Stowelink’s Commitment to Digital Health Innovation

As one of the region’s pioneers in digital health innovation, Stowelink Foundation continues to champion technology-driven solutions that improve health outcomes and strengthen public health systems. From the early development of My Heart KE and NCDs 365 to the continued expansion of Lifesten Health, the organization remains committed to ensuring that innovation serves communities and improves health equity.

The KELIN dialogue reaffirmed the importance of bringing together policymakers, civil society, researchers, innovators, and communities to create healthier food environments and advance the prevention of non-communicable diseases.

We thank KELIN for convening this important conversation and for creating a platform where diverse stakeholders can collaborate toward a healthier, more informed, and more resilient Kenya.

As Stowelink Foundation continues its mission of transforming health through innovation, advocacy, research, and community engagement, we look forward to contributing to future discussions that place digital health at the center of nutrition, prevention, and public health solutions.
