Stowelink Foundation is pleased to celebrate the participation of our Chief Programs Officer, Oduor Kevin, in the ASCEND Workshop held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The workshop is part of ASCEND: Leadership Development for the Future of Tobacco Control, a program of the Institute for Global Tobacco Control (IGTC) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The program seeks to develop and strengthen the leadership skills of tobacco control professionals from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) with the highest burden of tobacco-related death and disease.
During the week-long workshop, participants strengthened their skills in strategic leadership, systems thinking, stakeholder engagement, tobacco industry interference, policy advocacy, storytelling, litigation, and evidence-informed decision-making. Through practical group exercises and collaboration with peers from across the globe, the workshop equipped participants with tools to drive stronger tobacco control action in their respective countries.
For Stowelink Foundation, this investment in leadership is an investment in our mission. The knowledge, skills, and global networks gained through the ASCEND Workshop will strengthen our tobacco control programmes, enhance our advocacy efforts, and support the design and implementation of evidence-informed initiatives that protect communities from the harms of tobacco.
