STOWELINK EXTERNAL RELATIONS OFFICER  AND MENTAL HEALTH BLOGGER SHARES HER INSIGHTS ON MENTAL HEALTH AS A PANELIST

Naila Chebet Koech, who is Stowelink’s External Relations Officer, a health advocate and mental health blogger takes part in Chiromo Hospital Group’s discussion on Mental Health 101 as a panelist.

Naila represented Stowelink in the discussion in support of Mental Health Awareness Month which is usually observed in May. During the month, many people around the world engage in different activities in an effort to increase awareness about mental health in society. The Stowelink executive member is passionate about mental health advocacy and talks about her lived experience in her blog naylazthoughts.com. The blog aims to incite conversations on mental health and reduce the stigma around it.

Chiromo Hospital Group is an Ultra-Modern Level 5 Psychiatric Hospital in Nairobi. The Hospital’s Digital Relations Department spearheads promotive and preventive mental health care through conversations to advocate for mental health via social media. It coordinates different activities such as twitter chats, live discussions and podcasts to encourage talks about mental health. 

The twitter chat session and live discussion via twitter spaces, which Naila was a panel,  featured topics such as;

  1. Common misconceptions on mental health.
  2. Stereotypes that propagate stigma around mental health.
  3. Signs and symptoms of mental health conditions.
  4. Role of exercise in promoting good mental health.
  5. How to improve mental health education  and awareness in schools.
  6. The role of self care in mental health.
