Empowering Githurai Communities: Stowelink’s Follow-Up Training on NCDs and Climate Change

Introduction:

Stowelink, a leading organization in the fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and climate change, recently conducted a follow-up training session in Githurai. This training aimed to reinforce the importance of addressing the nexus between climate change and NCDs while highlighting the benefits that can be derived from reducing both these pressing issues. As part of our ongoing project on NCDs and climate change, we are committed to empowering communities and promoting co-benefit solutions.

Training for a Sustainable Future:

At Stowelink, we understand the critical connection between climate change and NCDs. The training in Githurai served as a platform to deepen the knowledge of eight youth groups who are actively involved in our project. Through interactive sessions, we emphasized the significance of adopting sustainable practices to mitigate climate change and reduce the burden of NCDs.

Co-Benefit Solutions:

Our focus on co-benefit solutions underscores the interconnectedness of climate change and NCDs. By addressing one issue, we can effectively tackle the other. During the training, we showcased practical examples of how sustainable actions, such as promoting healthy diets, encouraging physical activity, and advocating for renewable energy, can contribute to both climate change mitigation and improved health outcomes. This approach creates a win-win situation for communities, as they can simultaneously combat NCDs and contribute to a greener, more sustainable environment.

Empowering Githurai Communities:

Stowelink remains committed to empowering communities in Githurai and beyond. By providing training and knowledge-sharing opportunities, we aim to equip individuals and groups with the tools and information needed to become agents of change. The follow-up training in Githurai is just one step in our larger mission to build a resilient and healthy society, where the impact of NCDs and climate change is minimized.

Conclusion:

Stowelink’s follow-up training in Githurai showcased our dedication to addressing the critical issues of NCDs and climate change. By educating and empowering youth groups, we are fostering a generation of change-makers who understand the importance of sustainable practices and their impact on both health and the environment. Together, we can create a future where communities thrive, free from the burden of NCDs and the adverse effects of climate change. Join us in our mission to build a healthier and more sustainable world.
