Stowelink Foundation, a dedicated advocate for cardiovascular health, has taken the lead in the implementation of the May Measurement Month (MMM) 2023 project. After a brief wait for necessary approvals, the project is now in full swing. Stowelink has been a key implementing partner for this global initiative in Kenya since 2016, marking a significant milestone in their ongoing commitment to combat non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the region.

This year, we set our sights on the Githurai community, a densely populated urban area in Kenya. The foundation’s focus is on providing comprehensive cardiovascular health education, screening, and advocacy work to the local residents. The aim is to raise awareness about the importance of regular blood pressure checks and create a positive impact on the health of the community.

Within the first two weeks of the project launch, we made a remarkable impact by reaching out to over 3000 community members and conducting blood pressure screenings for more than 500 individuals. However, our commitment goes beyond just screenings. Stowelink has been actively collaborating with local healthcare facilities to ensure that those in need receive the necessary follow-up care and support. Our efforts are bolstered by the unwavering support of the Kenya Cardiac Society, a vital partner in the implementation of this project.

May Measurement Month (MMM) is a global campaign initiated by the International Society of Hypertension, aiming to emphasize the importance of regular blood pressure checks. By participating in this campaign, we are not only promoting cardiovascular health but also addressing the broader issue of NCDs. With our proactive approach and commitment to the well-being of communities, Stowelink continues to be a beacon of hope in the fight against NCDs and their associated health challenges.
