STOWELINK FOUNDER AND CEO AT ONE YOUNG WORLD SUMMIT 2019 LONDON:THE BIGGEST LESSON LEARNT

Stowelink founder Ogweno Stephen Odhiambo attended The One Young World Summit in London under the scholarship from Astra Zeneca.

The One Young World Summit 2019 sees the global forum for young leaders return ‘home’ for the first time since the inaugural Summit in 2010. With over 300 languages to be heard on its streets, London is one of the most diverse places in the world. The city is home to nearly 9 million people, one of the world’s biggest financial centres and countless historic sites such as Buckingham Palace and Big Ben. A city where the past and future merge, London provides the ideal backdrop for young leaders from more than 190 countries to work together to accelerate positive change.

The week was one busy week full of learning development and networking. While at the summit we learned about policy communication to leaders from the population reference beaurue. The summit included meeting with a lot of global leaders including presidents ministers and global ceos.these leaders included Bob Geldof, Singer & Activist,Mama Bee, Social Media Influencer, Eh Bee Family, Paul Polman, Chairman World Business Council for Sustainable Development & Chairman B Team, Prof. Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate and Founder, Grameen Bank, Alan Jope, CEO, Unilever, Bob Dudley, CEO, BP, Antonio Zapulla, CEO, Thomson Reuters Foundation, Elio Leoni-Sceti, Chief crafter of The Craftory, board member, AB Inbev & Barry Callebaut, Feike Sijbesma, CEO & Chairman DSM, Lord Michael Hastings, Global Head of Citizenship, KPMG International , Mohamed Amersi, Founder & CEO, Emergent Telecom Ventures, Ronan Dunne, Group President, Verizon Wireless, Marisa Drew, CEO, Impact Advisory and Finance Department, Credit Suisse, Representatives from The Elders, chaired by former President of Ireland, Mary Robinson.

At the summit Stowelink was able to forge partnerships with some of the global leaders at the delegate including Dr Mary from South Africa where we will be running a joint health education programme on NCDS in Kenya and South Africa and launching a new collaboration with skin world a social enterprise that focuses on providing skin care especially to patients with skin issues including diabetic patients.

What can we say! One young world was epic and the biggest lesson form the summit was this

‘We are leaders, we must lead!’
