STOWELINK WORKING CLOSELY WITH NJATHAINI COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS AND LOCAL CHIEFS TO MAP OUT PEOPLE LIVING WITH NCDS

Throughout the past few months we have been working with the community health workers and the local chiefs to screen the Njathaini community for people living with NCDs in a bid to help them access relevant services and care even during the COVID 19 period. Preliminary results from, the screening indicated that this community has 150 families of people living with non-communicable diseases yet there is no local health center and the members of the community need to move long distances to access services.

Through our collaboration with the community health workers and the local chiefs we intend to support the mapped out communities through creating  an effective referral system where the community health workers are easily able to refer the households of people living with NCDs to the nearest service providers who are able to address their needs. More than that we are currently working to ensure that the community health workers are trained on NCDs care and are able then to provide this vital information to the community they serve.
