Stowelink is delighted to announce that our CPO, Oduor Kevin, was awarded the Young Innovators Award at the 5th Quality Healthcare Forum and Awards held at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel, Nairobi. This esteemed recognition acknowledges individuals who are actively contributing to enhancing healthcare outcomes through innovative projects and policy initiatives.

One of the projects that contributed to this recognition is the IPAB project, which aimed to advocate for increased priority, attention, and budget allocation for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Kenya. Through our efforts at Stowelink Foundation, we were able to establish the Vihiga County NCD advocacy group, pushing for greater attention and budgetary allocation for NCDs in the region. Additionally, Oduor had the privilege of participating in the Transfat Elimination project, advocating for policies to safeguard cardiovascular health in Kenya. The Transfat Elimination Project is implemented by International Institute of Legislative Affairs where he supports digital health advocacy efforts.

During the awards ceremony, Mr. Oduor had the opportunity to meet the Principal Secretary of Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, where he emphasized the urgency of enacting trans fat policies to address the growing burden of NCDs in the country. Recognizing her influence, he urged her to support the transfat elimination campaign, highlighting that doing so will not only guarantee improvement in cardiovascular health outcomes but also position Kenya as a country committed to implementing the Transfat Elimination best practices by the World Health Organization.

Receiving the Young Innovators Award serves as a renewed impetus for Oduor and Stowelink’s NCD advocacy journey as a whole. Together, lets aspire to drive positive change in the healthcare system.
